What do you mean it was my fault?

Several weeks ago I was cycling home from work when another cyclist passed me by. He got a few hundred yards ahead of me when I decided I was going to try to catch him.
I was gaining on him when all of a sudden I looked up and found him lying on the road next to his bike. I immediately stopped and helped him up and helped get his bike off the road.
It turned out that a lady driving up Wellington road the other way had decided that the concept of 'right of way' waiting for oncoming traffic to stop did not include bicycles and as soon as the road was devoid of cars/buses she just took a right turn and promptly knocked this guy off his bike.
She had the audacity to claim that she was in the right and that were the roles reversed and she had been the one on the bike she would have stopped and let him cross.
It continually amazes me the extent of the average driver's lack of common sense and road awareness. It also shocks me how many people I see breaking the law by using their phones, driving through red lights, and even driving in and parking on cycle lanes and bus lanes.
I recently was contacted by the police to ask me about the incident because the guy suffered a serious injury. I hope the guy recovers asap and that with whatever help I can give this 'motorist' is found guilty of dangerous driving. We will see.
