For many years now the concept of creationism has slowly advanced not only in America but also in this country, with faith schools refusing to teach Darwinism and the widely accepted theory of evolution.
Creationists believe that the world as we know it was created 6000 years ago and the human population and animals we know were created shortly thereafter.
The new Creation Museum about to open in Kentucky has exhibits showing dinosaurs on Noah's Ark.

What do you mean it was my fault?
Several weeks ago I was cycling home from work when another cyclist passed me by. He got a few hundred yards ahead of me when I decided I was going to try to catch him.
I was gaining on him when all of a sudden I looked up and found him lying on the road next to his bike. I immediately stopped and helped him up and helped get his bike off the road.
It turned out that a lady driving up Wellington road the other way had decided that the concept of 'right of way' waiting for oncoming traffic to stop did not include bicycles and as soon as the road was devoid of cars/buses she just took a right turn and promptly knocked this guy off his bike.
She had the audacity to claim that she was in the right and that were the roles reversed and she had been the one on the bike she would have stopped and let him cross.
It continually amazes me the extent of the average driver's lack of common sense and road awareness. It also shocks me how many people I see breaking the law by using their phones, driving through red lights, and even driving in and parking on cycle lanes and bus lanes.
I recently was contacted by the police to ask me about the incident because the guy suffered a serious injury. I hope the guy recovers asap and that with whatever help I can give this 'motorist' is found guilty of dangerous driving. We will see.

I don't like Mondays
What is it about Mondays at work, it doesn't matter where you are, invariably it all goes tits up at the slightest opportunity. I think the government needs to get some of their boffins in to study this!
Anyway, where was I, oh yes-Monday morning. Things started off normal but quickly degenerated into near chaos.
One old man, who came in with his wife, and who looked surprised anytime someone asked him a question, just stood there and wet himself, creating a large puddle on the floor which he then walked through spreading it around the office.
As we were mopping that up a large family came in. As soon as the lady started talking to reception all her kids started running in different directions. Never was a taser more needed, or at least a fishing net and a club!
The rest of the day was spent telling people they couldn't bring their bikes into the office, no matter how quick their enquiry was, and standing there trying to understand the requests and questions of a large number of eastern europeans whose combined knowledge of english equated to 'hello',' thank you', 'we no english' and 'we no have work'.
Still, it makes the day go by faster!

Tony's in my head
There has been an unforeseen and disturbing side effect to spending all day yesterday playing Tony Hawk. All the dreams I had last night that I can remember involved skateboarding. It didn't matter whether it was central to the dream or not but sure enough someone would pop up grinding a rail or doing some mad stunt or other on his board.
I can't recall exactly but I'm sure in one of them someone was skateboarding in the sea. I think at one point he managed to grind a shark that was attacking my boat.
I think I need to leave the xbox alone for a few days!

Keep on running
Went into town today to do the jobs I meant to do yesterday and saw a lot of people in shorts and wrapped up in tin foil. It was of course the Manchester 10k run today. Every year I remember too late to register for it and every time I say I'll do it next year. This time however I've decided to run it in 2008 so I'm going to see how early I can register so I don't forget!
On the bright side I managed to get all my jobs done today by 3 o'clock!
I wont be taking any prisoners at work in my shiny new steel toe-cap shoes. :-)
Putting the bookcases together this morning didn't half make me feel like I was back at work with my former employers at the furniture shop Unicorn, where for ten years ( it felt like a lifetime ) I delivered and assembled every conceivable item of furniture six, sometimes seven days a week! Still, that's a story for another day.

Best laid plans
I had planned to do a lot today, to be really productive. Looking for a new pair of work shoes, putting up some bookcases, doing my washing and getting a bit of shopping done.
Well, that WAS the plan.
I have spent the entire day playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 on the xbox!
Still, there's always tomorrow.....

Russian roulette on the A6
I've been cycling to work in Stockport now for about six or seven weeks. It never ceases to amaze me how many times a day vehicle drivers either don't see me or seem to think, as my friend said, that cyclists are made of rubber and we'll just bounce back harmlessly.
Only one car moved out of my way on tuesday when I had right of way and I was so shocked I nearly stopped anyway!

Am I really out there?
Is reality relative?
And if so, relative to what?
I was at work today and got into one of them conversations when you're not quite sure you are both talking about the same thing, but you get to a point in the conversation when its too late to ask without appearing to be rude.
Well, at that point I just kind of mentally switched off and started to think about whether this was happening to me in another plane of reality and if so was I having the same success as here.
It got me thinking, if alternate universes exist, then they must be linked somehow to ours. If thats the case then all the alternate essences that are me could be linked. It could be for instance that when I'm dreaming I'm actually seeing visions of other realities which don't always make sense. That could be why I sometimes wake up wondering about the strange dreams I have, they are too vivid and realistic to be made up but too strange to have actually happened to me. Sometimes I really need to sit on the end of the bed and concentrate to decide whether these were dreams or they actually happened to me.
No wonder I have headaches some mornings!

Welcome to squirrel tv.
Hello, my name is alex and I decided to create this blog to put down some of the thoughts I have and also to share a bit about what goes on in my life to see if other people think this world is as crazy as I think it is or if its just me.
I called it squirrel tv is because some people I know think I'm nuts, squirrels like nuts and I like squirrels!
I reckon squirrels watch tv in the winter, they dont really hibernate, its just a con so that we leave them alone for a while. They probably had TiVo way before we did. Just think of how much they must have to catch up on when they finally settle down during the cold winter months.
